Answer to following question:

Can anybody just turn up to the sessions before they make an initial contact over the phone or email?

We discourage anybody turning up to a group peer support session prior to being inducted to the service.  Once we receive a referral or direct enquiry from a potential service user, we arrange a really informal 2:1 meeting with them.  We give them a Welcome Pack, tell them about the group and give them an opportunity to ask any questions.  This induction meeting is great for the team to get a little background information about the person’s situation and also helps to reassure the service user what they can expect and reduce any anxieties they may have had prior to attending the group session.
